The Education Law Association’s Education Committee is proud to present a panel discussion on the current wave of Critical Race Theory (CRT) bans in K-12 schools, both proposed and enacted. The panelists will discuss the status of legislation in different states by providing a descriptive overview of these bills that limit how educators can address topics related to race within the classroom, a review of motivating factors behind this movement, and a consideration of both potential and actual impacts in schools. Participants will be able to describe the current status of proposed and enacted legislation regarding CRT bans, identify the social and political motivating forces behind CRT bans, and understand the potential and actual impacts of CRT bans in schools.
