Dr. Philip T.K. Daniel is the William Ray and Marie Adamson Flesher Professor of Educational Administration, EMERITUS, in the Department of Educational Studies, College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Daniel graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania with an honors degree in history and earned his M.S. and Ed.D. degrees in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He obtained his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from the Northern Illinois University College of Law, DeKalb with further study in the School of Law at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Dr. Daniel was also an American Council on Education Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Professor Daniels research focuses on conflict resolution and professional ethics in education, legal research techniques with expertise in school law, higher education law, disability/special education law, and the law of technology in education. He is the co-author of four books and the author or co-author of numerous book chapters, refereed articles in national and international journals, articles in law reviews, and papers and keynote addresses presented at national and international conferences. Active in a number of scholarly journals he is a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee of Wests Education Law Reporter and the editorial boards of the Brigham Young University Journal of Education and Law, the Journal of Education and Urban Society, the Encyclopedia of Higher Education Law, and the Journal of the South African Society for Education Law.

Daniel has received a number of awards and recognitions including the Education Law Associations Marion McGhehey Award, the highest award of the organization for his research and his research work cited continually in legislation, case law, and appellant briefs. He received the Northern Illinois University Scholarly Achievement Award for Outstanding Research and, from the same university, the Distinguished Alumni Award. Professor Daniel was awarded Ohio States Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, and was subsequently inducted into the universitys Academy of Distinguished Teaching. He was a winner of the Ohio State University President and Provosts Award for Distinguished Faculty Service. He is a recipient of The Ohio State Excellence in Mentoring Award from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Certificate for Excellence in Mentoring from the Office of the Mayor, City of Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Daniel is a member of several academic organizations including the American Educational Research Association, the University Council for Educational Administration, the Education Law Association where he served as President, the South African Education Law Association, the Australian/New Zealand Education Law, and the Global Education Law Forum.

An award winning teacher, Professor Daniel continues to teach graduate courses in school law and disabilities/special education law in the Department of Educational Studies, College of Education and Human Ecology. By invitation, he holds a post in The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business Bright Program for students pursuing an MBA degree relative to better managing public turnaround schools. He conducts seminars and workshops in the United States and other countries in the world on issues of educational reform especially those involving the passing or modification of government legislation. As to outreach and engagement, he interacts with local public schools so as to lend support through his scholarly background and practical experience. As such he is engaged in in-service programs with school personnel, especially in the area of school law and disabilities/special education law.
