The Award Portal is Open!

An essential part of the mission of the Education Law Association is recognizing distinguished accomplishments in education law. We now welcome nominations for the following awards.

Dissertation of the Year. The Joseph C. Beckham Award recognizes exemplary dissertations by doctoral students on topics related to education law.

Distinguished Scholarship in Education Law. The Steven S. Goldberg Award is presented annually in recognition of an outstanding article, book, book chapter, or other form of scholarly legal writing in the field of Education Law.

Education Law Writing. The George Jay Joseph Education Law Writing Award generates increased interest in and recognition of education law among not only graduate students in education schools but also, in particular, to students in law schools.

Distinguished Service. The M.A. McGhehey Award recognizes outstanding service in the field of education law and to the Education Law Association.

Outstanding Appellate Brief. The August Steinhilber Award recognizes outstanding brief writing in an appellate court in a case concerning education law.

Timeline for Award Nominations

  • June 1, 2023, the award portal opens
  • July 15, 2023, the award portal closes
  • September 15, 2023, public announcement of awards
  • October 25-28, 2023 Awards Ceremony during the annual conference.

Contains misleading or false information
Contains misleading or false information. Or false information which is intended to mislead and misinform.
Contains abusive or derogatory content
Publishes or posts other people’s private information (such as home phone number and address) without their express authorization and permission.
Excessively violent or cruel, or nudity or sexual activity.
Text, image, audio, or video of graphic sexual acts intended to arouse, or content promoting underage, non-consensual, or other illegal sexual themes, whether simulated or real.
Irrelevant, indiscriminate, or inappropriate communication to recipients.
Contains spam, fake content or potential malware
Content containing violent language, gruesome or disgusting imagery, or graphic images or accounts of physical trauma.
