FAQs – Member News & Classified Ads

1. Who can see the listings?

All active dues-paying members and affiliates who are logged into EducationLaw.org or the mobile app can view Member News and the classified ads.


2. How can I publish a Member News article or list a classified ad? 

Log into EducationLaw.org and visit EducationLaw.org/classifieds. Click the button that says, “Post Member News or Place Ad.” Then choose a category, list yourself as the owner, choose a start and end date, complete the fields, and attach a document if necessary.


3. What categories should I use?


The following top-level and sub-level categories are designed to help you classify your listing in the following areas.


I. ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES

  • Clerkships: Recruit law students or recent law graduates to serve under the guidance of a judge or licensed attorney. 
  • Degree Programs: Recruit students to apply for your education institution, whether an undergraduate pre-law program, a master’s or doctoral degree program or a law school degree.
  • Fellowships: Recruit a graduate or post-doctoral researcher to serve your university or organization.
  • Internships: Recruit applicants to serve as your next intern for early-career students to gain professional experience.
  • Law Clinics: Announce opportunities for law students and paralegals to gain hands-on experience in your legal aid organization or law school clinic.
  • Scholarships: Recruit students to apply for your scholarship program and help advance their education and careers.


II. AWARDS

  • Announcing Award Recipients: Announce the winners of an award, honor, or prize.
  • Calls for Award Nominees: Announce nominations and build a strong slate of contenders for your next award.


III. LEGAL EDUCATION

  • Continuing Legal Education: Advertise your next continuing legal education program, whether online or onsite.
  • Professional Development: Advertise your online and onsite professional development programs for educators, administrators, and public officials.


IV. MEMBER NEWS

  • Accomplishments: Announce a professional achievement, such as receiving a grant, fellowship, appointment, or promotion. (Post your award announcements in the Award Recipient category). 
  • Books & Publications: Announce the release of your new book, article, or curriculum.
  • In the News: Share media mentions and links to journalistic outlets that feature your research or expertise. 
  • Public Scholarship: Share information about the launch of your new article, podcast, blog, multimedia, or other publications designed to promote the public understanding of education law.
  • Personal Milestones: Did you get married, have a baby, or welcome a new grandchild?


V. PRODUCTS OR SERVICES

  • Products: Advertise your legal product, such as teaching and learning resources, software, or legal research tools.
  • Services: Advertise your professional services, such as legal counsel,  legal research, copyediting, human resource recruitment, and financial advisement.


VI. PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

  • Job Postings: Recruit applicants for full- and part-time paid positions in your firm, organization, or university.


VII. PUBLISHING OPPORTUNITIES

  • Calls for Authors: Invite scholars and practitioners to write articles, chapters, and books in education law.
  • Calls for Editors: Invite experts to apply to edit or co-edit a volume to help advance the field of education law.


VIII. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Calls for Board Members: Invite members to serve on the board of directors of the Education Law Association.
  • Calls for Committee Volunteers: Invite members to chair, co-chair, or serve as a member of a committee of the Education Law Association.
  • Calls for Section Leaders: Invite members to co-chair or serve as coordinators of Sections of the Education Law Association. 

4. What should I include in a job posting?

Job postings vary based on industry, work culture, and supervisory style. According to OpenAI articles, an effective job posting will include the following information:

  • Job title: Clearly state the position you are looking to fill and ensure that the title mirrors industry standards.
  • Location: Specify where the job is located and whether the work requires onsite or online work.
  • Job duties: Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities that the job will involve.
  • Required skills and qualifications: List the education, experience, and skills that are necessary to succeed in the job.
  • Scope of Contract: Indicate whether the position is permanent or temporary, and whether it's full-time, part-time, seasonal, or contractual.
  • Compensation: Indicate the salary or wage range for the position.
  • Benefits: Include information about benefits such as health insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, parental leave, flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, and wellness programs.
  • Work Culture: Competitive employers articulate their company's values and mission and demonstrate your commitment to creating a positive work environment with special attention to a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Application timeframe: Indicate when you are willing to accept job applications. 
  • Contact information: Include your name, company name, email, phone number, and instructions for how to apply for the job.


5. How long will it take to publish my listing?

It will take two business days to process the listings in most cases, but please allow five business days for final approval.


6. Do you deny some listings?

In some cases, yes. The Education Law Association, as owners of this private social network, retains the right to publish listings that align with its mission, community standards, and policies or if there is a perceived or real conflict of interest. We may delay publishing some listings to have time to seek additional information, such as verifying sources and confirming the authenticity of the content.
