This panel will discuss emerging state level hot topics in education law (K-12) with a particular focus on state legislative activity. Panelists will highlight significant state law changes that have occurred in the immediate past legislative session (which for most began in the Fall of 2022 and ends around June 2023) and emerging topics legislatures may address in the year ahead. Panelists will cover developments in state legislatures from different regions in the country, although significant state court cases may also be assessed where appropriate. Time will be afforded for interactions with attendees who may have knowledge of developments within their respective states.
