Biography | I am a J.D. / Ed.D. (University of Kansas School of Law, 2007 / University of Missouri, 2013) with an emphasis in Civil Rights in Education Law. I live in Kansas City, MO, where I serve on several boards and committees serving the urban school district footprint. In addition, I was a gifted program coordinator and classroom teacher for 20 years (including a full year in-person during the pandemic) in rural, suburban, and urban schools, including an all-girls private college preparatory academy in the heart of Kansas City. Currently, I specializes in innovative curriculum design that explores what’s possible in education, with an intensive focus on student experience and skill development. I have led projects to create, implement, and coach a interdisciplinary curriculum in a middle school feeder to the #1 ranked high school in Missouri, a program to train and accredit elementary teachers in the social studies (which was recently approved by the Kansas State Board of Education), and I educate schools boards, administrators, counselors, and doctoral students on the practitioner implications of Students For Fair Admissions v. Harvard. As the co-founder of Storyboards College Admission Portfolios, I work with public schools to uplevel their college admissions programming, with a focus on teaching the college application, developing efficiencies to manage counselor workload, and providing professional development for faculty and administrators. |
