Biography

Dr. Edwin J. Greenlee (PhD, JD, MS, MA) is a senior delegate and the secretary/treasurer at 1791 Delegates, a nonprofit public charity that advances the public understanding of the five freedoms of the First Amendment—religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. In this capacity, he serves 1791 Delegates’ clients including as the publisher of the Education Law Association.

Dr. Greenlee previously served as the Associate Director for Public Services and Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is currently a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bars.

He is the co-editor with Nathan C. Walker of Whose God Rules? Is the United States a Secular Nation or a Theolegal Democracy? (Palgrave Macmillan 2011).

He has worked in private practice in the areas of medical malpractice and family law, has done pro bono work with the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania and the American Civil Liberties Union, and served as legal intern with the Honorable Bruce Fox, United States Bankruptcy Court, Philadelphia, and with the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

He received his Ph.D. and J.D. degrees from Temple University; a M.S. degree in library and information science from Drexel University; and a Master of Liberal Arts in religion and history of art. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Theological Studies from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, an Episcopal seminary.
