Biography

Amy L. Dagley, PhD, is an associate professor of educational leadership at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her doctorate in educational administration from the University of Alabama and has two degrees from the University of Alaska Southeast. Some of her research interests have included First Amendment speech rights, ethics, and school funding. She has authored or co-authored more than 50 articles and book chapters in the field of education law, policy, and finance, including co-authoring the chapter on state and federal legislation for the Yearbook of Education Law since 2009 (typically the longest chapter in the Yearbook). In 2023 she was named a Distinguished Research and Practice Fellow by the National Education Finance Academy. She is a former member of the board of directors for the Journal of International Students (2013-2019), and a former member of the board of trustees for the National Education Finance Academy (2020-2023). She currently serves on the faculty editorial board of the Education Law and Policy Review, and on the Author’s Committee for West’s Education Law Reporter. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Dagley was an educator in rural Alaska.
