Call for ELA Board of Directors
and Officer Nominations
The Education Law Association is seeking nominations for open leadership positions. Under the ELA Constitution, the Nominating Committee may call for nominations and conduct the election before the annual conference.
Open positions include:
ELA seeks active members who are committed to thoughtful governance, ethical leadership, fiduciary responsibility, and the continued growth and strength of the Association. Officers and directors are expected to participate actively in meetings, committee work, written reports, and the annual conference.
Board members serve a three-year term and should expect to participate in monthly board meetings, co-chair a standing committee, submit monthly committee reports, and attend the annual conference.
As an officer, the Secretary serves in a four-year leadership cycle, with succession into other leadership roles (including Vice President and President). The Secretary is expected to participate in weekly Executive Committee meetings, monthly Board meetings, committee leadership, monthly reporting, and annual conference activities. Given ELA's current operations, officers should expect to devote at least 10 hours per week to Association work.
All nominees must be active ELA members. Self-nominations are not accepted. Officer nominees must have previously served, or currently be serving, on the Board of Directors. Preference for board positions will be given to nominees who have not previously served on the Board.
Nominees should have demonstrated commitment to ELA through at least two forms of engagement, such as long-standing membership, conference attendance, publication contributions, member recruitment, presentations, or committee service.
