Response to Intervention (RtI): Implementation and Legal Issues School accountability and school reform continue to top the public school agenda. Response to Intervention (RtI) makes a valuable contribution to both efforts. RtI addresses the important issues of the appropriate identification of students with specific learning disabilities and the increased accountability for student achievement. RtI is an effective model of school reform that can be used to positively impact the achievement of many of the underachieving subgroups in the student population. This is a critical need given the performance expectation that schools make adequate yearly progress in student achievement. This book defines RtI for practitioners and reviews the legal implications of using this model of differentiated instruction. A step-by-step guide to designing and implementing a multi-tiered Response to Intervention model is also provided.

Table of Contents:

Chapter 1: Response to Intervention (RtI) Defined

Chapter 2: RtI: Assumptions and Myths
