2007 M.A. McGhehey Award
The McGhehey Award is named in honor of Marion A. McGhehey, a founding member of ELA (NOLPE), who passed away in 1982. Mac McGhehey served as president of the association as well as executive director for over twenty years. He was a prolific writer and created the School Law Reporter. Mac was recognized nationwide as an expert on school law. He served as executive director of two state school board associations, started the school law section in the U.S. Office of Education, and testified before Congress and several state legislatures.
